My quest for that “higher education”.

I left Dresden High School to pursue my music career full time and took the home schooling route. For the most part, it’s working out pretty good. Driver’s Ed is not part of the curriculum. According to my mom, they haven’t made enough nerve pills for her to take that on. Numerous friends and family members have offered to teach me to drive but, I’m pretty busy during the day and they’re not available at night so, learning to drive is something I just haven’t gotten around to. The day for my video crept up and I still had never once tried to drive at all.

Early morning, December 11th, Marcel made his way to my hometown for the shoot. While Scott McMahon and I were pulling hair, makeup and wardrobe together, my mechanic, David Atnip was busy getting my truck ready to crank up for the very first time. When we pulled in at his shop, he was just finishing putting in my back glass with my logo etched in it. What followed was sheer pandemonium:

Disclaimer: NO ANIMALS OR PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO (not for lack of opportunity- just sheer luck)

* consider that my solution to stop and go was to mash both pedals until something happened

* understand that pull up and get out of the truck, to me, does not mean put it in park unless you tell me where park is and that I need to do that

All in all, it was a lot of fun. No blood was shed. And now, I can kinda drive, a little. Most kids don’t learn to drive with a camera crew and a stylist there. But, a girl’s gotta look good when she cleans out ditches, right?

Enjoy,

Getting my first video out in time to link it with my first mention in Country Weekly Magazine was something I will always remember. I want to thank all of you for the support you’ve shown by checking out the video and going over and downloading Sing This City Home.

In the next few days, I’ll be sharing some bonus footage from the shooting. I had never driven before that day. While the footage is hilarious, I think the producer, Marcel, who was manning the camera, would say it more- life threatening. You can watch me jump ditches backwards and almost run through the front door of The Keg because I didn’t realize I had to put the truck in park. I love my little truck that David Atnip has worked so hard to get running for me. If you notice, my good friend Chris even etched my logo in the rear window. My stylist, Scott McMahon, flew down from New York to be treated to a day of riding in the truck bed in 20 degree weather while I cleaned out half the ditches in Weakley County.

I can’t possibly thank everyone without leaving somebody out but, as always, The Keg was an awesome venue. Walon, Donny Wayne, Faraway, and Tim were great as my band, we sure missed Trent. Colt McGraw made a special effort to get here a day early while on military leave. Kevin Brinsfield helped Marcel all day. Mama Stella cooked and manned the phones. Mrs. Teresa showed up early to help. David Atnip and his son got my truck from location to location. And Mom, did all the worrying and running around setting up equipment. Thank you all!

It’s really hard for an unsigned artist to get noticed today but I’ve had some great help in that area. I want to send a special thanks out to Nashville Hype, Country Weekly, The Country Start Page, Carrie News, Got Country, Nashville Gab, Country Music Pride, Urban Country Blog, Country Tattle Tale, MOG, Farce The Music, That Nashville Sound, Nashville Country Club, The Dresden Enterprise, McKenzie Banner, Weakley County Press, and The Fulton Leader for all the coverage you have put out there.

More soon…

Love,

Stormy

To coincide with Stormy’s first appearance in Country Weekly, she’s proud to release the official video for “Sing This City Home”. Filmed in her hometown of Dresden, TN and neighboring Fulton, KY, the video features numerous friends and family members. Stormy says, “It was fun getting the crowd to come down to The Keg for this video shoot. This area has offered me so much support over the years and, like all small towns, all we did was tell a few people we’d be shooting and my supporters showed up in droves!”.

Directed by Marcel, the video takes you on a journey of small town America; where people work the land, cruise the town square, pack the local tavern, gather around to play music, and returning Soldiers are welcomed with open arms. ”I really wanted this to be a realistic take on what happens every day in a small town like this. You know, when Cole McCraw (the soldier) walked in the door, that reaction was authentic. He told me afterwards he wished everyone felt the way about returning soldiers that we did. He was so touched, and we were all about in tears.”

Until Jan. 11th you can get your free copy of “Sing This City Home” by visiting Country Weekly.

You hear your mom or people in the entertainment business always say things like “half the fun is getting there” or something that sounds so lame to somebody my age. Let me just say- making this cd has been a blast! It was a lot of hard work, but I’m doing what I love to do with people I look up to as role models. It’s been an awesome experience that I know I’m going to be proud of for a really long time.

“Someone Like Me” started out as my 15th birthday present. That’s all. We’ve wandered over to Nashville every year since I was 10 years old to demo 5 or 6 songs. Most of the songs on this project are ones I’ve done little acoustic demos to 2 or 3 times before. ( I’ll never forget my first demo – 10 years old, three songs to tracks. I had been going to the local karaoke spot for months in advance with my #2 pencil taking “pre-orders”. When it was done, Mom bought me a stack of blank cds and I burned them at home. Don’t laugh! I sold almost 500 at 5 bucks a piece from my little preorder list. I thought I was a rock star!) But, each and every song on “Someone Like Me” held a special spot in my heart. I had been living with these songs for so long, just dreaming of how they could sound. I really wanted to go in and do them the right way- fully produced with top players.

It means so much to me that other people seem to get what I’m doing. I love sharing these songs with all of you and honestly, 7000 of my cds already sold – unreal!! It blows me away when I hear that I’ve been requested on the radio or when someone actually wants my autograph. Your response to “Someone Like Me” has been incredible, your belief in me keeps me going. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support!

Love,

Sep 21, 2009 – NASHVILLE, TN — Country music artist Stormy Montana will release her highly acclaimed and top selling C.D., “Someone Like Me” online and worldwide November 15th, 2009 through i-Tunes, Amazon, LaLa, Rhapsody, Napster, and other online vendors.

“Someone Like Me” has already sold close to 7,000 physical copies since release, a virtually un-heardof feat in todays country music climate. In fact, had the C.D. been Soundscanned from the beginning, “Someone Like Me”would have remained in the Top 20 Billboard Country Music Chart throughout much of the year.

Featuring 15 top quality songs by hit songwriters such as Dave Pahanish, Casey Kessel, Marcus Hummon, and James Slater; and recorded at Nashville’s finest studios featuring Nashville’s finest musicians, “Someone Like Me” is knee deep in great music that everyone can enjoy.

The release date is a reflection of the Christmas season and the decision to release “Someone Like Me” online for the first time came after much deliberation. Stormy says, “At first we wanted to keep the C.D. offline completely, believing that the best way to sell ‘Someone Like Me‘ was for me to play shows, shake hands, and meet as many people as possible. As time moved on we found that the demand for ‘Someone Like Me‘ at the shows was overwhelming, leading us to sell out very quickly. At the same time, everyday we were getting request for the C.D. from places as far away as Japan and Germany. We concluded we needed to have ‘Someone Like Me‘ in all the online stores so that the fans who weren’t able to purchase the C.D. at the shows, and those around the world, could.”

About Stormy Montana: At just 16 years old, Stormy Montana has proven to have one of the largest and most dedicated fan bases in all of country music. She doesn’t attribute this simply to her age, but to the music itself, which is grounded in the best traditions of country music, with an eye towards the more accessible pop country of today’s generation. Stormy began singing live in bars and honky-tonks at 9 years old and hasn’t stopped since. Her love of music and performing is evident by the fact her mother never had to push her to sing and perform, it’s simply what she wanted to do. Teaming with renound vocal coach Teresa Smith, and surrounding herself with a great team of Nashville insiders and music professionals, Stormy set sail on her life’s calling. The culmination of these early years of hard work can be heard on her new C.D. “Someone Like Me” which has already sold nearly 7,000 physical copies.
